Removing or installing segments allows the user to tune the amount of moderation. Every air gun provides a different tone when fired so what is heard for suppression on one air gun will be different when it is used on another air gun. Being able to experiment with the segments helps you better tune the silencer to your air gun.

When installing a moderator / suppressor, it is up to the installer to assure proper alignment to avoid clipping. 

Clipping isn't the fault of any moderator. Clipping is a misalignment of the barrel to the shroud or shroud to the barrel. 

Damaged moderators can't be returned because of a faulty installation. All parts are precision machined and inspected to provide proper alignment to an assigned assembly.
